Why Desktop

Built for the rhythm
of real teaching.

The same creative workspaces as the web app, with a few important advantages that come from living on your computer.

02

Work offline

Plan, build and present without depending on the school Wi-Fi. Your core workspaces and local Library remain close at hand.

03

Autosave as you teach

Desktop can save changes back to your chosen Library folder, so a live explanation or last-minute edit is not left behind.

04

Updates arrive automatically

Lesson Studio checks for signed releases and offers to install them, so you can stay current without hunting for a new installer.

05

Connect to Ollama

Use compatible models through an Ollama service you configure, including one running on the same computer—without needing a cloud-provider API key.

Choose what fits

The web app stays free.
Desktop is free for now, too.

No account is needed for either version. Desktop may become a paid convenience product in future; the browser-based Lesson Studio will remain the free way to create.

The button always resolves to the newest published Windows release.

  2. 2

    Choose your Library folder

Put your work somewhere familiar, such as Documents or a backed-up teaching folder.

  3. 3

    Carry on from the web

Import a Library copy, or begin fresh. Your lessons and exports remain files you control.

Good to know

Desktop questions.

Is Lesson Studio Desktop free?

Yes. The Windows desktop app is free to download and use at the moment. A paid desktop licence is planned for a later release; this page will make the price and terms clear before that changes.

Is the web app still free?

Yes. The browser-based Lesson Studio remains free, and you can use it without an account.

What happens to my work?

It remains yours. Desktop keeps your Library in a folder you choose, and Lesson Studio continues to offer portable Library copies and familiar export formats.

Can I work without an internet connection?

Core editing, local files and presenting work locally are available offline. Online material, cloud AI providers and software updates still need a connection.

Which computers are supported?

The current signed build is for Windows. Other platforms are not advertised until a tested, signed build exists for them.

Will I have to check GitHub for updates?

No. This page’s button selects the latest published installer automatically, and installed copies can check for new releases themselves.
