Support, not substitution
AI can help make teaching material. It does not replace the teacher’s subject knowledge, judgement or relationship with learners.
Optional by design
Lesson Studio is not an AI teacher. It is a creative studio for educators, with optional AI assistance when it saves time or helps an idea take shape. Use it, switch it off, or write and draw everything yourself.
AI can help make teaching material. It does not replace the teacher’s subject knowledge, judgement or relationship with learners.
Use AI when it makes a useful task quicker or more accessible, not because every lesson needs an AI component.
Review the result, change it, save it or discard it. Material only becomes part of a lesson when you choose to put it there.
From idea to lesson page
Prepare an interactive Sketch before class, or make one in the moment when a question changes the direction of the lesson. Because AI works inside the same workspace, the result is not stranded in a chatbot. Try it, edit the code if needed, then post it straight into the current lesson.
Students receive the working interactive Sketch, not a screenshot or a link back to AI. They can change the angle and explore the idea for themselves. You can also write all the p5.js code yourself whenever you prefer.
“Show how the angle changes the projectile’s path.”
Generate once. Reuse often.
A useful diagram, Sketch, set of notes or other result can be saved, edited and reused in future lessons without asking a model to generate it again. The value stays with the teaching material, not with an endless stream of prompts.
Choose the model
Results vary between models and tasks. The newest or most expensive model may help with some complex requests, but focused diagrams, sketches and notes can also work very well with smaller or open models.
Cloud providers
Connect a supported provider and choose from its available models. The provider’s account, pricing and data policies apply.
Desktop and Ollama
Download the Lesson Studio desktop app and install Ollama separately. You can then use compatible models without a cloud-provider API key.
One honest qualification: Ollama defaults to an address on your own computer. If you configure an Ollama server elsewhere, your requests go to that address.
Know what is sent
Lesson Studio adds the instructions and relevant workspace context needed for the request. What is included depends on the task.
Relevant context may include recent conversation messages, workspace instructions, selected resources, lesson or canvas details, document text, code, diagram source, web extracts, or an image you explicitly ask the model to interpret. Cloud-provider terms and retention policies still apply. Read the full AI terms for the detailed account.
Ethical use
Lesson Studio encourages AI use that is proportionate, transparent and safe for learners.
Start with the teaching need, then decide whether AI is the right tool.
Check accuracy, bias, suitability and rights before using material with learners.
Do not submit student, safeguarding, confidential or personal information without proper authority.
Be open about AI assistance wherever your school, organisation or context requires it.
Your choice
Start with your idea, choose whether AI helps, and shape the result into teaching material that remains useful long after the response is finished.
